On behalf of Amigos de las Américas, we would like to welcome you to the AMIGOS Campus Representative Program.  This program is a great way for you to continue your participation with AMIGOS and continue our work in Latin America.

This year, AMIGOS will need to recruit 125 Correspondent Volunteers to fill our host contacts’ requests for summer 2008.  In addition, we will be recruiting 15 volunteers for our January Term project in Costa Rica.

That means our goal is for each Campus Rep to successfully recruit at least ONE volunteer.

To accomplish our recruiting goal, we need you to participate in at least two informational sessions (one this fall and another in the winter/spring) at your school or a local church, synagogue, temple, university, high school, or community center.  This fall we will be pushing for January term volunteers, and in the winter and spring we’ll be recruiting summer volunteers.  Throughout the year you should be visiting your campus and other local schools to post AMIGOS fliers and give brochures to teachers and professors.

Your Regional Recruiters (RR) are available to support your recruiting efforts.  Through weekly phone calls and emails, you’ll maintain contact with your RR to stay updated with events in your area and ideas for creative ways to recruit.  Also, you may be asked to mentor a volunteer through the application, fundraising, and training process to ensure they are completing required activities (documents and immunizations) and effectively preparing for training and the summer.
