When I was a vol we had to lug those bulky volunteer handbooks with us, and while there was some relevant information in them, I don't think much changes from year to year (I could be wrong). Perhaps instead of printing new copies every year you could ask vols not to write in them and to return them at the end of their volunteer term. Maybe even charge a deposit to make sure the vols take good care of their handbooks so they can be reused.

 Also, I remember during all the training sessions we used disposable cups and plates whenever there was food. The switch to reusable plates and such would be GREAT, and you can have the vols clean up individually afterwards.

 If you guys are going green for electricity I recommend Reliant's 100% Wind Plan, I've been using them for nearly a year and I've got no complaints.

 Install ceiling fans and use them instead of turning on the A/C.

Make sure everyone's computer is turned off when they leave for the day.
